Ask Studio Buddy or the room’s Alexa for help
In the guest portal, tap the Studio Buddy chat button and type what you need, for example “order two masala chai” or “AC not cooling”. In your studio, say “Alexa, open Smart Studios” and ask out loud. Both read back anything that places an order or raises a request, and nothing happens until you say or tap yes. The Alexa only takes guest requests while your booking is checked in.
Before you start
- For Studio Buddy in the portal: signed in to your guest account
- For the room’s Alexa: your booking for that studio is checked in
What you can ask for
| Ask about | Example | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Food from the in-house kitchen | “Two masala chai and a sandwich” | Reads back the items and total, then places a kitchen order |
| Food from an outside vendor | “Paneer roll from Haldiram’s” | Places a vendor order delivered to your studio |
| Order status | “Where is my order?” | Reads out the latest status of your recent orders |
| Housekeeping | “Room cleaning at 4 pm” | Books a housekeeping visit |
| Laundry and water | “Pick up my laundry” · “Two water cans” | Places a laundry or water order |
| Something broken | “The AC is not cooling” | Raises a maintenance ticket for your studio |
| A complaint | “The corridor is very noisy” | Logs a complaint for the team to follow up |
| A visitor | “My friend Rhea is coming at 6” | Creates a visitor pass so security expects them |
| Parcels | “Has my parcel arrived?” | Tells you whether a parcel has been logged for you. It cannot create one |
| A ride | “Cab to the railway station at 7 am” | Requests transport |
| Directions | “How do I get to the gym?” | Gives walking directions inside the building |
| Checking out | “I want to check out” | Sends a check-out request to reception |
Using the Alexa in your room
- Open the skill
Say “Alexa, open Smart Studios”. It greets you and asks what you need.
- Say what you need, in one go
Say the whole request, for example “order two masala chai to my room”. Missing details, such as a time, are asked for one at a time.
English, Hindi and Hinglish all work. Say “in Hindi” or “in English” to switch the language Alexa answers in.
- Confirm
Alexa reads back the order or request. Say “yes” to go ahead or “no” to cancel. After a yes, you hear a confirmation such as an order number.
- Say “stop” when you are done
Or answer “no” when it asks “Anything else?”.
What happens next
- Orders and requests made by voice or chat are the same as ones made in the portal. They appear under My Orders, Services and Invoices
- Prices and rules are the same too: minimum orders, kitchen hours and time slots apply exactly as in the portal
If something goes wrong
- Alexa says the room is not checked in
- Guest requests only work while your booking for that studio is checked in. Check in at reception first, or use Studio Buddy in the portal.
- Alexa says “Almost done, say: any update”
- A request took longer than Alexa allows. Say “any update” after a moment to hear the answer. It is not lost.
- Alexa did not catch what I said
- Speak the full request in one sentence, close to the speaker. For a dish name it keeps mishearing, use Studio Buddy in the portal instead.
- Something was ordered that I did not want
- Orders are only placed after a yes. If one was placed by mistake, cancel it from My Orders straight away, or call support on +91 92669 02860.
- The Studio Buddy chat button is not showing
- The assistant is occasionally paused. Every request it handles can also be made from Services in the portal.
Privacy
The Alexa in your studio belongs to Smart Studios and acts for whichever booking is checked in to that room. It only answers when you say “Alexa, open Smart Studios”. Staff use the same speaker with a one-time code, for room checks and work orders.
Your conversations and voice requests are not used to train AI models, by us or by Cloudflare, which runs the assistant’s AI. Amazon handles Alexa voice recordings under its own privacy notice. The privacy policy, section 3.6, has the details.
