Become a vendor and open your store
Open Become a Vendor at portal.mysmartstudios.com/become-vendor and sign in (or create an account). Every seller is KYC-verified: first verify your Aadhaar and PAN with DigiLocker (about a minute), then choose what you sell, enter your business details, PAN, GSTIN (or confirm you don’t need one) and bank account, list what you offer and submit. Applying is free and takes about 5 minutes. Smart Studios reviews every new store, usually within a working day, sets how your buyers pay and confirms your commission. Once approved, choose a membership plan (your first month is free) and add your products from Vendor Products. Your shop also gets its own page with a QR code (see Your shop page, QR code and Insights).
Before you start
- A mobile number or email to create your Smart Studios account (or an account you already have)
- Your business name, your own name, a contact email and phone number
- Your Aadhaar linked to your mobile number, for DigiLocker (it verifies your Aadhaar and PAN)
- Your PAN — it must be the PAN DigiLocker verifies
- Your GSTIN, if you are registered for GST. It must be active and on your own PAN. Not registered? You can declare that your turnover is under the GST limit and you sell only within your state
- The bank account and IFSC your earnings should be paid into
- Optional: a business address proof (shop rent agreement or utility bill) if you sell from somewhere other than your Aadhaar address
- A short description of what you sell, and the first few items or services with their prices
- Open Become a Vendor and sign in
Go to portal.mysmartstudios.com/become-vendor (also in the website menu under More, Become a Vendor). Read the benefits and the Seller Terms, then press Sign in or create an account to apply. You come straight back to the application form after signing in.

- Verify your identity with DigiLocker
Tick the consent and press Verify with DigiLocker. Sign in to DigiLocker with your Aadhaar-linked mobile number, allow Smart Studios to read your Aadhaar and PAN, and you come straight back. Your name and PAN (last four digits) then show as verified. Nothing else in the form opens until this is done.
DigiLocker says “processing”? Wait a minute and refresh. DigiLocker not working for you at all (no Aadhaar-linked mobile)? Press “Upload your documents instead” and send a masked Aadhaar and a photo of your PAN card — our team checks them, usually within a working day, and you can carry on meanwhile. Or press “Request a call”.

Pick one category: food and beverages, maintenance, housekeeping, laundry, beauty and wellness, products, or tech support. The category sets your commission rate, which is shown before you submit.

Needed to verify you and pay you. None of this is shown to customers, and it is stored encrypted. Your GSTIN is checked live with GSTN and your bank account with a ₹1 penny-drop check.

Add at least one service or product line with its price, tick that you accept the Seller Terms and commission, and submit. Applying is free and does not need a membership.
After you apply
Become a Vendor and your Vendor Dashboard show where your application stands, step by step — identity, GST, bank check, our review, approved — with a button wherever something needs fixing. Once you are approved, a “Get your shop going” checklist on the dashboard walks you through the rest: your plan, 5 products, your shop page and timings, your UPI ID, the QR poster and your first order. Your answers are saved on your phone while you fill the form, so closing it by mistake loses nothing (PAN and bank details are never saved on the device).

Add your products — no typing product details
Smart Studios keeps one product catalogue with the name, brand, pack size, MRP, photo and tax details of each product. You pick what you sell from it and set only your own price (it starts at the MRP) and stock. Open Products in the portal and press Add products. There are three ways in:

- Export your list
Products → Add products → Upload CSV → Export my products. You get every product you sell, in the same layout as the upload, with an id column.
- Edit it in Excel or Google Sheets
Change prices, stock, HSN/GST, or set available to no to pause a product. Don’t change the id column — it is how each row finds its product. Add new products as new rows with the id left blank.
- Upload it back
Save as CSV and upload. Rows with an id update that product; rows without one are added. The result lists what was updated, matched, added or skipped, row by row.

What happens next
- Your products are visible to guests and residents in the portal Marketplace; stock you enter goes down with each order, so you are never oversold
- Orders move Accept, Preparing, Out for delivery, Delivered, and you finish each one by entering the buyer’s 4-digit delivery code
- Paid online: Smart Studios pays you after delivery and any return window, less commission. Paid to you on delivery: you collect it and owe Smart Studios the commission
- On the Pro plan you can also sell your products on ONDC buyer apps such as Paytm (see Sell your products on ONDC)
If something goes wrong
- Opening Vendor Products takes me to My plan
- Listing products needs an active membership. Start your free month on any plan from My plan; nothing is charged until it ends.
- The camera does not open to scan
- Allow camera access for portal.mysmartstudios.com in your browser settings, or type the numbers printed under the barcode instead.
- My CSV says "Needs a price or MRP" or skips rows
- Every row needs a name (or a barcode we know) and a price or MRP. Check the result list for the row numbers, fix them in the sheet and upload again — rows already added are updated, not duplicated, if you upload the exported file.
- It asks for HSN and GST
- Your shop takes online orders, so invoices need them. Both are printed on the bill from your distributor; ask them if not.
- It says my PAN doesn’t match DigiLocker
- Enter the PAN of the person who verified with DigiLocker — the seller’s own PAN. A business run on someone else’s PAN must apply from that person’s account.
- My GSTIN is refused
- It must be active with GSTN and registered on your own PAN (characters 3–12 of the GSTIN are the PAN). If it was cancelled or suspended, sort that out with GST first — or, if you are under the limit and sell only in your state, tick that you don’t need to register.
- I already sell here but my dashboard says “Complete your seller KYC”
- Open Seller KYC (the button on the banner, or portal.mysmartstudios.com/portal/vendor-kyc), verify with DigiLocker and save your GST details. It takes about two minutes.
- The address proof will not upload
- Use a PDF, JPG or PNG under 5 MB. A clear phone photo of the whole document works.
- It said my bank account could not be confirmed
- Your application still goes through. Our team checks the account with you before approval; you can also change it later from the Settlements tab.
- No decision after a working day

Does it cost anything to apply?
No. Applying is free. To list products and take orders you need a Smart Studios membership; your first month is free and you can cancel before it ends without paying.
How much commission do I pay?
It depends on your category and is shown before you submit; Smart Studios confirms the final rate when it approves your store.
Who decides whether buyers pay online or on delivery?
Smart Studios sets it for each store when approving it: online, on delivery, or both, in which case the buyer chooses.
